You’ll play a key role in embedding SS1/23 expectations, supporting the model lifecycle, and applying your expertise to ensure our modelling standards are clear, consistent and effective. It’s a chance to work closely with a wide range of partners, deepen your knowledge of the Group Finance modelling landscape, and help shape a team that’s building a new centre of excellence!
Why Lloyds Banking Group

Day to day responsibilities
You will lead on guiding Model Owners in writing and updating key documents to meet regulatory, and internal Model Risk requirements. This will include.

Lead interaction with Model Owners, acting a Subject Matter Expert and hosting governance meetings and key stakeholder updates to engage colleagues and drive an adoption of a Model focussed culture.
-
Develop deep and constructive relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. Model Owners, Independent Validations Teams, Data & Technology teams) to facilitate smooth governance and technology pathways.
-
Interpreting SS1/23 and internal requirements and assessing their application. Performing a targeted gap analysis between the existing model risk practices, and documentation, and collaborating with teams to build robust, detailed, and coherent documentation, bringing together technical knowledge and expertise, ensuring the accurate reflection of model logic, clear articulation of assumptions, and traceability between technical design, and business usage.
-
Help prepare governance papers, including summary documents and detailed data analysis and facilitate approvals.
-
Deliver in line with LBG data science, model governance and risk management policies and procedures, maintaining constructive relationships with specialist colleagues in these areas.
-
Work with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and technical SMEs to identify, develop and implement new solutions that deliver business value.
-
Maintain an effective control environment, sharing knowledge with others and offering technical leadership or support as needed.
What you’ll need
-
A genuine enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity – someone who’s eager to immerse themselves in the intricacies of Quantitative Methods, and who finds energy in exploring complex concepts, whilst presenting them in a clear and accessible way.
-
A solid understanding of Model Risk Management, particularly within a Treasury or Banking environment.
-
Excellent written communication skills, including technical documentation, working independently and at pace.
-
Commercial and strategic mentality, with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively. A proven track record of collaboration and stakeholder management.
-
Ideally a strong theoretical and applied knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns, core programming concepts and computer science fundamentals. A curiosity to improve processes and explore the potential of data technologies (e.g. Power BI, Python, SQL, GCP) and prior experience of working with complex data sets.
-
A relentless desire to grow your capability by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities.
