We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to join our team in our MEP London Aldgate, Croydon or St. Albans office to work across a broad range of sectors and for a broad range of clients predominantly across the South East of England. About Our Team:
Our award-winning and close-knit Building Services team have a strong presence across sectors and we have and a strong Public Health engineering team throughout the UK. The team is seeking to expand their capabilities further by adding a Senior Public Health Engineer with experience in delivering sustainable projects across multiple sectors, has excellent team working and co-ordination skills and strives for technical excellence.
You will be an integral part of the diverse and dynamic national AECOM PH team which will support your technical career development. Challenges such as the net zero agenda and water neutrality provide great opportunities for your career to flourish with the role also including Fire Protection systems design which will be supported by our experienced specialist fire protection engineering team to provide the opportunity to develop new design skills. The position is predominantly office located role to ensure face-to-face contact time with the team.
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading much of the Public Health and Fire Protection systems design on projects and involve client liaison, mentoring and leading the discipline/systems to prepare scheme and detailed engineering designs. The successful candidate will have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and looking to advance their career.
The role will include taking point lead on multiple PH systems design/calculations on a project as well as assisting the lead PH engineer with experience in the following systems:
- Hot and cold water systems
- Above ground foul and rainwater system
- Fire Protection Systems
- Below Ground drainage systems
- Pumped drainage systems
- Water and oil leak detection systems
- Rainwater harvesting and Greywater recycling systems
- Water conservation solutions
- BREEAM, LEED and Ska Rating design integration
Duties of the role will include, but not be limited to;
- Maintaining Client relationships
- Mentoring and developing staff
- Project Managing small sized multi-disciplinary projects
- Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants to provide a fully coordinated design
- Ensure the Design Team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project
- Be familiar with the BIM design process and be capable of input and support for projects designed in Revit
- Ensure compliance with all Statutory and Regulatory obligations, make submissions to the Statutory Authorities and obtain approvals as necessary
- Produce all design information and ensure that all calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the QA procedures, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice
- Represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects
- Support AECOM PM with input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, also respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns
- Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme
- Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous public health engineering work experience within a design consultancy or other relevant business
- BEng for a relevant engineering course (MEng preferred)
- CIBSE SoPHE Member
- A comprehensive working knowledge of statutory regulations to ensure design compliance, make submissions to the statutory authorities and obtaining approvals as necessary
- Be able to work independently and have good time/task management skills
- Experience in mixed used, residential, commercial and healthcare buildings/sectors
- Fully competent in the use of AutoCad to produce 2D drawings
- Fully competence in using 3D Revit software and Navisworks reviewing software
- Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer with CIBSE / IET / IMechE (or working towards)
