Full time starting salary is normally in the range £32,546 to £35,116 with potential progression once in post to £39,355
Grade: 6
Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to September 2025

Background
To assist in research (by carrying out data collection or analyses) to create knowledge through providing research support for projects and research groups.
The Research Associate (RA) position is for a fixed term of 6-months under supervision of Dr Sanne van der Kleij. The RA will work on data analysis on existing data collected as part of a longitudinal study on children’s social cognitive development. The RA will also assist in preparing new funding applications by conducting a literature review. They will assist in day to day research activities, supporting the Centre for Developmental Science in organising education stakeholder seminars and with preparing summaries for practitioners.

Main Duties

Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as online data collection, literature reviews, and research interviews
Analyse research data as directed 
Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods
Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture

Person Specification

Degree or equivalent in Psychology 
Practical experience of applying the relevant skills and techniques, such as Structural Equation Modelling and/or Latent Profile Analysis in R or MPlus
Experience of writing and publishing peer reviewed scientific papers/preprints
Ability to communicate complex information clearly (including proficiency in English language).
Ability to access and organise resources successfully
Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in day to day activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
