Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a HSEQ Advisor to join our Complex Facilities Business Unit on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role that will be based in our Birmingham office and will require travel.
The HSEQ Advisor plays an important part in driving HSEQ standards and supplying high quality technical and specialist HSEQ support to our Operational Manager & Teams. You will support the HSEQ strategy in your area by development and checking of local HSEQ plans, alongside embedding policy process & procedure, with the Operational management teams.
The standard hours of work are based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

You will be responsible for:
- Attending operational meetings monthly, in line with reporting requirements. Organising and leading the meetings, supporting the requirements your stakeholders
- Engaging with your HSEQ colleagues
- Checking daily the incident reporting system (Eco-online) to ensure that managers act on all incidents. You will support the account to investigate minor accidents but lead the investigation when lost time or RIDDOR is reported
- Being Subject matter expert of a minimum of 2 safety topics, taking ownership for the policies and procedures around this. Amending them when necessary to reflect best practice.
- Auditing and inspecting the sites in your area aligned to the annual assurance plan. You will use your technical knowledge to observe and audit, finding areas of strength and weakness.
- Supporting Bidding teams with their submissions, providing an overview of the SHEQ role, policy process procedures and systems. You’ll provide guidance, advice, and support to management teams to ensure that mobilisations and demobilisation take place in plain in with Amey HSEQ policy
- Having a working knowledge of environmental statutory requirements and be able to refer to the E team for support of give basic advised on issues such as waste, spills & ecology.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- A professional qualification like NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
- Strong health and safety knowledge with a broad range of knowledge on HSEQ topics
- Experience of the requirements set out by CDM 2015
- Strong Microsoft Publications experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
- Experience in a similar role
- Strong team player with the ability to work alone
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management experience
- Creative and collaborative skills
- Professional in your approach
