Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for a Commerce Engineering Solutions Director to join our Technology department on a full time basis. The role will be based at our London Bankside office, with a hybrid element for those looking for more flexibility.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Leadership
Set the strategic direction for commerce engineering, aligning tech solutions with digital commerce goals.
Collaborate with executive leadership to define long-term vision and roadmaps for scalable, innovative commerce platforms.
Technology and Architecture Oversight
Oversee the design, architecture, and development of robust, scalable, and secure commerce platforms, focusing on TCO and operational costs.
Lead technology design for eCommerce, Identity, and Payment engines, ensuring best practices in web, app, microservices, APIs, telemetry, and cloud integration.
Develop technology roadmaps ensuring future supportability and legal compliance across regions.
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Drive talent development and succession planning to meet evolving business and technical needs.
Inspire and challenge teams to achieve business results.
Agile and DevOps Implementation
Champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices for efficient, iterative development and rapid delivery of high-quality solutions.
Promote collaborative problem-solving to enhance speed-to-market and operational efficiency.
Management
Collaborate with stakeholders (marketing, sales, customer service) to ensure commerce solutions meet business and user needs.
Communicate technology strategies effectively to non-technical stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
Performance and Optimisation
Drive continuous improvement of commerce platforms, focusing on performance monitoring, testing, and enhancement.
Oversee performance analysis and optimization for high availability, security, and compliance.
Vendor and Partner Management
Manage relationships with vendors, platform providers, integrators, and consultants to ensure strategic and operational alignment.
Evaluate and integrate third-party solutions, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance within the commerce ecosystem.
