Role Summary
You will provide a high quality cleaning service in all areas of University buildings across campus, including offices, public and teaching areas and student accommodation. Clean, stock and supply designated areas to a required standard to maintain hygiene and replace stock items. Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities to keep buildings and facilities in an orderly condition. In order to flexibly use resource you may be given the opportunity to work in different areas of the department or wider University.
Working Pattern:
4 days on 4 days off: Position 1: 04:30am to 10:00am, Position 2: 10:30am to 15:30pm, Position 3: 13:30pm to 19:00pm, Position 4: 19:30pm to 00:30am.
Main Duties

Carry out cleaning and sanitising of all areas of buildings, including sweeping, mopping, damp wiping, vacuuming, using cleaning agents and cleaning equipment.
Empty bins and remove waste and recycling.
Ensure that hygiene and required standards are kept to, ensuring a consistent and quality cleaning service.
Replace stock items, for example, in sanitary areas.
Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
Report faults and maintenance defects, missing stock, emergencies (for example, floods, intruders, accidents) or building maintenance matters. 
Ensure all cleaning equipment is in good order and report any defects.
Carry out the safe collection, use and return of keys, to ensure security of buildings and rooms.
Cover for absent colleagues and transfer between working areas as required.
Assist the Team Leaders and Assistant Managers with periodic stock takes. 
Assist with meeting University environmental targets. For example, turning off lights as required.
Conform to all Health and Safety requirements, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health COSHH regulations, to ensure a safe, high quality service.
Work co-operatively, helpfully, politely with customers, colleagues and visitors, including answering queries and dealing with all situations that arise, to deliver the highest level of customer service.
Maintain personal hygiene standards, and wear the correct protective and required corporate clothing. 
Carry out additional tasks as required. 
You will be expected to treat everyone with dignity and respect, supporting equality and valuing diversity.

Dimensions
This role does not directly manage others.
This role does not own a budget.
Planning and Organising
This role will be working in response to customer orders and enquiries and is therefore mostly reactive. They will need to maintain an awareness of how their work links with others, and to ensure certain activities are completed within a shift.
Problem Solving and decision making
The role will undertake a variety of activities that are very similar in nature, with most problems arising being ones that have been seen before, with the role holder knowing how to resolve it from experience. This role will be expected to work within prescribed ways of working, with little to no latitude to deviate.
Internal and External relationships
This role will be a customer facing role and will be expected to be polite, responsive, friendly and courteous at all times, dealing with enquiries in a professional manner that leaves customers feeling well treated. There may be times when the role has to deal with complaints and difficult customers. 
The role will work collaboratively with team members to provide a high quality customer experience.
