Liberty Steel Group have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our Electrical site Maintenance Team, who provide a variety of essential services predominantly to the Liberty Speciality Steels Rotherham site businesses.

The Role of the Electrical Technician

  • The vacancy is for an FEP position with specific knowledge and skills to provide Electrical maintenance and repairs to our site infrastructure and Workshop’s areas inc. Machine shop, Test House, Buildings and offices as well as all areas of Works Services.
  •  The Job holder should be apprentice trained preferably with a HNC in Electrical Maintenance and must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Electrical inspection, maintenance, and repair work preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
  • The Job holder is required to work as part of a team, where Team members must be able to understand safe working procedures and apply recognised safety practices, to each task they are undertaking and ensure other team members behave accordingly.
  • Team members must be self-motivated and highly flexible to perform a number of roles in a variety of locations. In order to undertake this range of duties safely they will be required to undertake training.
  • The job holder should have a methodical approach to work, with attention to detail and accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and effective IT and verbal communication.

Requirements of the Electrical Technician

A working knowledge of: –

  • LV Networks, Circuit Breakers, and Protection Equipment.
  • Electrical testing methods and fault-finding skills.
  • Have recently completed and passed current IET regulations (2382).
  • Proven experience in minor electrical installations and preparing EICR.
  • Working knowledge of ac inverters and direct connected ac motors.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Allen Bradley PLCs and SCADA systems, including the use of programming tools to diagnose faults.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping awareness and standards.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, cable schedules and related electrical documentation.
  • Confident to work at height.
  • A current driving license is essential.

Working Pattern of the Electrical Technician

  • The role operates on a 7-day rota. Working hours are 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm weekends, with opportunity for occasional overtime working for which a premium is paid.
